Prep for spring/summer with decluttering tips and donation guides.

A closet cleanout is identity work. This blog will help you refresh your wardrobe with clarity, intention, and sustainability at the core.

You can start by pulling everything out. Yes, everything. Categorize by tops, bottoms, dresses, outerwear, and accessories. Touch each piece and ask two questions: Does this fit my current aesthetic? Does this support the lifestyle I actually live?

This alone will eliminate a surprising amount of clutter.

Next, identify your “core closet,” which is the 20–30 pieces you reach for constantly. These are your accurate style indicators. Build your wardrobe around these pieces, not the aspirational items that never get worn.

Sort the rest into four piles: keep, tailor, donate, and resell. Be honest, if you haven’t worn something in a year and it’s not a special-occasion item, it’s time to let it go. Items made from high-quality materials or with brand recognition can be resold to fund future purchases.

A sustainable cleanout means keeping pieces in circulation: donate thoughtfully, repair what can be mended, and sell items someone else will cherish.

Once your closet is edited, evaluate what gaps remain. You may need better basics, a layering coat, or a pair of quality boots. Create a conscious shopping list so you avoid impulse buys.

A cleanout is about aligning your wardrobe with who you are now. When your closet reflects your identity, getting dressed becomes an act of clarity, not chaos.
